Flower Planner

When planning flowers for your dream wedding day, be sure to keep these basic questions in mind:

  • What is the style of your ceremony and reception? (Formal or informal, traditional or nontraditional)
  • What is the color theme of your wedding?
  • What time of year and day is the wedding?
  • And the most importantly, how much have you budgeted for you flowers? This will help your florist to discuss several price options with you.

Once you have answered these questions, you will be able to determine your floral needs. Making a list of those you will need flowers for will be very helpful in your planning. Your list should include some or all of the following:

  • Bridal bouquet and throw away bouquet to toss.
    • Probably the most important floral item you'll select, your bouquet will not only take a walk down the aisle with you, but will also be seen in most of your wedding photos. Here are a few of the most popular styles.

      • Cascade: Flowing. Full at top, dropping into tendrils. Dramatic.
      • Hand-tied: Natural and understated. The arrangement is tied prettily at the stems.
      • Free-form cascade: Less geometric than other bouquets. Allows florist to be very expressive.
  • Attendants' bouquets and coordinating hairpieces.
  • Boutonnieres for groom, best man, ushers and fathers.
  • Corsages for mothers.
  • Flowers for flower girl and ring bearer.
  • Flowers for grandparents and other special guests.
  • Floral arrangements for the wedding ceremony, including altar arrangements, pew decorations, candelabra, unity candle, kneeling bench accent and aisle carpet.
  • Floral arrangements for the reception, including centerpieces for head table and guest tables, arrangements for the buffet table and flower decorations for the wedding cake.
  • Thank-you flowers for parents or other special people to be delivered at the time of or after the ceremony.
